A Poetry of Fragments: archival encounters [RCA_MA ARCHITECTURE_2020_ADS6]
After visiting collections at the Tate, BFI, V&A and the Bill Douglas Cinema Museum, I encountered 29 boxes of items from Derek Jarman’s fragmented and mysterious archival world- including 12 sketchbooks, 56 poems, 438 Super 8 film stills, 5 unrealised film scripts, 212 sketches, 92 stage designs and 53 letters. Each iteration of the project responds to this collection of archival material, forming a reinterpreted narrative that references the poetic nature of the content and their creator.
