Lindisfarne Artistic Refuge [NEWCASTLE UNIVERSITY_BA ARCHITECTURE_2016]
The Lindisfarne Artistic Refuge is a walkway and centre for the exhibition, practice and teaching of art. Located on the tidal causeway of Lindisfarne in Northumberland, the design traces the traditional pilgrimage route to the island, providing an experiential journey of refuge in the vast natural landscape. With influence from ideas of the Sublime, Romanticism and Gothic Architecture, the design embodies and reflects ideas of beauty and discovery in nature in a contemporary approach, emphasised by the unique tidal environment.
