design. Her practice reimagines overlooked, forgotten, and discarded fragments into surreal, dreamlike worlds that celebrate the poetry of the everyday. With a background in architecture, Georgie is drawn to the quiet rhythms of the built environment, which she abstracts and reconfigures into works that drift between the real and the imagined. Using chance methods, the work moves between two- and three-dimensional space, where scale is fluid and dimensions distorted. The works have all been formed from their wanders; Ellen’s paintings were produced on a residency in South West France, using earth pigments foraged on walks in the landscape. While Georgie paints unique collations of shapes, forms and textures found on her wanderings in the city. The exhibition brings together their differing processes as they navigate their backgrounds in textile and architectural design, showcasing a contrasting collection of stretched canvas and unstretched linen paintings, hanging and scattered throughout the space. The project began with a series of walks around Mexico City which have informed a fragmented vocabulary of sketches, recording an unfolding collection of forms, textures and details that make up the fabric of the city. I have been working on reinterpreting these traces into unexpected, imaginative architectures, through a methodology of collage and chance theory that is informed by the adventure of not knowing. Working across 2D and 3D, the artworks celebrate an alternative architectural dreamscape inspired by a poetic reinterpretation of our overlooked everyday surroundings. The final installation piece references the imaginative theatricality of stage design and reinterprets discarded objects from my time at Casa Lü into sculptural pieces that respond to the painting dreamscape as a surrealist backdrop of an alternative architectural world beyond. &nbsp; The project began with a series of walks around Mexico City which have informed a fragmented vocabulary of sketches, recording an unfolding collection of forms, textures and details that make up the fabric of the city. I have been working on reinterpreting these traces into unexpected, imaginative architectures, through a methodology of collage and chance theory that is informed by the adventure of not knowing.
